Ferrier Wire Mesh in the Canadian Military

Ferrier Wire Goods is proud to supply the Canadian Military with wire mesh. The military has directly purchased from Ferrier Wire Goods for projects and locations Canada wide, ranging from the East Coast to the West Coast. Looking at some specific examples and applications, our copper weavemesh has been used for flash screens that protect utilities and electrical components from fire damage. Ferrier Wire has also supplied Brass wire mesh screening for lint traps used in dryers on ships. In addition to dealing with the military directly, Ferrier Wire has worked closely with military contractors who have used our stainless steel Dutch weave products for air filtration systems in light utility vehicles. Wire Mesh Transportation Applications

When looking at the transportation industry, there are a multitude of applications for wire mesh in areas such as ventilation, protective guarding/safety, aerospace research, and various vehicle components. To give a brief example, Ferrier Wire supplies mesh to a local company that then manufactures HVAC and climate control systems used in coach buses, city shuttles, and even school buses providing clean air and a comfortable climate. One of the more interesting uses for Ferrier Wire mesh in transportation is for TTC streetcar sandboxes. During wet and slippery conditions, streetcars are outfitted with two sandboxes that dispense sand onto the rails in order to increase traction and ensure the cars can break safely. Ferrier Wire works closely with the Toronto Transit Commission and supplies wire mesh for the construction of these sandbox components. Lastly, Ferrier Wire materials have also made their way into the aerospace industry, more specifically being used in wind tunnels for developmental research. Phosphor bronze wire mesh screens are used in these wind tunnels in order to distribute airflow and make sure testing is accurate and consistent with real world conditions.
