Gardiner Museum Renovation

The Gardiner Museum has recently completed major renovations of their ground floor and lobby area after approximately 15 months’ time. This is a significant event for the museum as this marks the first time there has been any major renovations since 2006, completely rebuilding the main floor and entrance area. Aiming to create a unique, spiritually significant container for the Gardiner Museums new Indigenous ceramics collection, approximately 2,700 square feet of Ferrier Wires copper 100 x 100 mesh was supplied for this project with a stunning frame design and installation completed by McWood Studios Inc. 

The copper mesh was stretched over a large wooden frame creating a unique aesthetic that encloses the museum’s first ever gallery dedicated to indigenous ceramic art pieces. This material creates a unique texture around the gallery with a slightly translucent nature, allowing some visibility into the gallery inside the structure. In addition to the translucent nature of the copper material, the layering of the material and the finishing create an almost feather like texture making this enclosure a stand out addition. This unique and eye-catching structure marks the centerpiece of the renovation and Ferrier Wire is proud to have supplied vital materials to this project.
