Design Perforated Metal
Ferrier Wires line of design perforated metal represents a relatively cost effective, versatile option that can be used for various design applications. Some of these applications include radiator covers, cabinetry, use in millwork, privacy screens, railings, and various other design/industrial applications.
All of our design perforated patterns (with the exception of our stainless steel 1/2” square pattern) use mild steel and are not suitable for outdoor use when sold as the material will eventually rust. Powder coating and plating finishes are available for all of our design perforated products. For more information about our plating and powder coating options, please feel free to contact us.
Our design perforated products have been used in a variety of projects ranging from privacy screens in the Air Canada Centre to ceiling tiles in an office building located in Markham. Samples for each of the patterns below are available upon request, spec sheets are also available below for more information about our products.

16Ferrier Wire has recently acquired a turret punching machine capable of punching custom perforations and patterns into raw sheet metal. The Euromac CX1000-30 turret punching machine is a hydro electronically powered CNC punching turret that was acquired in January of 2022. For more information about the Euromac please click here. The process for manufacturing design perforated metal involves feeding sheet metal through a press which then punches the desired pattern directly into the sheet metal. An alternative to this manufacturing process is using coils of steel as opposed to sheet metal. In this process, coils of steel are fed through a punch similar to the sheet metal process, however when the material exits the punch it remains coiled up. The perforated coil material is then sheared to size after being run through a set of rollers to flatten the material. Due to the nature of the perforating process, sheets often come out curved and rollers are used to flatten them to the desired shape.
Due to the process of making design perforated material, the sheets available above vary from 16 gauge to 22 gauge in thickness depending on the desired pattern. The thickness and material of the sheet metal used largely determine if they can be properly and safely punched without damaging the punch.
