Country Spotlight: Perforated Metal in Zurich, Switzerland

September 14, 2017

Zurich, the banking capital of Switzerland, is recognized as one of the world’s most liveable cities.  This summer one of our staff had the privilege of travelling to this large, upscale metropolis. The Kunsthaus, Schweizerisches Landesmuseum and St. Peterskirche are among the most popular sites to visit in this city: however, Zurich also boasts several stunning examples of architectural perforated metal in its bustling downtown core.

Our staff member came across beautiful examples of architectural perforated metal guarding important monuments and as barriers in popular tourist attractions.

The metal you see captured here was found around park house entrances and a restaurant at the Sechselautenplatz in front of the Zurich Opera house. The pattern is either laser or water jet cut.

Ferrier Design carries a diverse selection of design and architectural perforated metal patterns, all eight of which are as intricately detailed as what you see on the left of the page. We carry a similar full clover pattern made of mild steel (unfinished), available with custom plating and powder coating options. This pattern is ideal for use as radiator covers, build-in cabinets, infill panels and privacy screens.

You will find our architectural perforated metal patterns used for various installations in venues across the city, including as privacy screens at many popular spas. We recently created semi-transparent dividers for several businesses in Toronto, using our signature chainlink pattern. It is made of unfinished mild steel.

Stay tuned as we highlight other intricate, beautiful patterns of architectural perforated metal in and surrounding famous European landmarks!
