In 2014 and 2015, Ferrier Design attended IIDEXCanada.  IIDEXCanada is Canada’s largest national design and architecture exposition and conference, bringing together more than 30,000 professionals. As an attendee, we had access to seminars and roundtables given by industry experts as well as exposure to emerging trends. The IIDEX was an opportunity for us to network and share our extensive architectural perforated metal portfolio with a diverse audience. 

Ferrier Design was given a booth to showcase our fabricated products. Instead of handing out literature to those who visited our booth, we decided to give out loot bags containing a range of our architectural and design metals.  We believed this was more productive and less wasteful than the traditional paper brochure route.

In addition to the loot bags, we decided to fabricate two design perforated items for the show: a business card holder and a whimsical piece we called a “lollipop theatre”.

The business card holder is fabricated using perforated metal which is sheared to size, brake formed, ground, brushed and then powder coated. We offer to customize these to hold electronics such as iPads and smartphones as well as books. The lollipop theatre is a fun perforated metal concept that is sheared, formed, spot welded, ground and finished. It was a hit at the show and continues to be in our office.

The loot bag tray was constructed in the same manner as the lollipop theatre and business card holder. We prepared 350 loot bags for the show and unexpectedly ran out, they were such a hit! We continue to use them as giveaways at trade shows, including this year’s Architect@Work show.
