Specification Sheet Spotlight Part 2: Weldmesh and Black PVC Weldmesh Spotlight

October 31, 2017

The process of creating specification sheets for all our wire products has been no easy task. As you may have read in our first post of this series, we worked diligently with a drafting company and high-tech machinery to produce unique CAD drawings.  Ferrier Design, the architectural and design metal division of Ferrier Wire, is rolling out specification sheets for their growing line of wire products as well.

Here at Ferrier Wire, almost all of our different types of wire products come with spec sheets. This includes our vast selection of stainless steel mesh and black PVC weldmesh.

The images below showcase the following patterns:

  1. 1x1 mesh x 120” DIA Wire
  2. GBW 2” x 2” x 10 gauge
  3. Black PVC Weldmesh 1” x 1” x 12.5ga
  4. Black PVC Weldmesh ½” x ½” x 16ga

1x1 mesh x 120” DIA Wire

This stainless steel mesh product is resistant spot welded, with a diameter of .120” (3.05mm). It has a clear opening of .880” (22.35mm) and a 77.4% open area. With a weight of 93.7 lbs/csf, it is ideal to serve as guarding, railing, a support screen and/or infill panels.

GBW 2” x 2” x 10 gauge

As a GBW pattern, it is galvanized before welding. It is also resistant spot welded, with a space of 2” x 2” (centre to centre). It originates from Italy and thus complies with various international standards that include:

  • The UNI-EN 10218-2 Steel Wire and Wire Products
  • The UNI EN 10244-2 Non Ferrous Metallic Coating on Steel Wire, Zinc or Zinc Alloy Coatings
  • The UNI-EN 10223-4 Steel Wire Welded Fence

Common applications for this unique product include using it to build a tree guard, shotcrete, and concrete repair mesh.

Black PVC Weldmesh 1” x 1” x 12.5ga

This black PVC weldmesh pattern can be found on playground equipment, as machine guarding, cage guarding and railing infill panels. Its construction is galvanized wire resistant spot welded, and it is black sinter coated in fluidized bed. Post PVC coating it is ~11ga in wire thickness.

Black PVC Weldmesh ½” x ½” x 16ga

This is the third of three black PVC weldmesh patterns we offer at Ferrier Wire. It shares many of the same characteristics as its counterpart above, except it is thinner after PVC coating with a thickness of ~14ga. It weighs 63lbs/csf. Common applications include those mentioned above as well as for building cabinets.
